The Kinlochbervie Community Company is a charitable company founded in 2008. Our aim is to initiate and develop community improvement projects. Current projects include Loch Clash Pier, the Manse Road houses and Community Broadband.
The Community Broadband Study has been completed. This was sponsored by Community Broadband Scotland. The purpose of the study was to collect information about the quality of broadband service in the Kinlochbervie area and the interest in faster broadband. The results are based on 64 completed questionnaires.
In one hour, on 7 March 2016, the former offices of the Kinlochbervie Fish Selling Company were demolished as part of the pier’s redevelopment as a future community hub. Historically, Loch Clash has been the centre of fishing in Kinlochbervie. Originally fish were landed and the markets held in the open air on the pier. Local people remember today’s building being constructed in the 1950s but it has now been vacant for over 30 years.
It has taken over 10 years to assemble the land and secure the funding. Now that work has finally begun, we have been gratified to receive a great many positive comments from local people about the development. But today is also tinged with a little sadness; so many current and former residents of Kinlochbervie have fond memories of working in this building (sometimes for many years).
